Not just any chocolate chip cookie...

So what's so great about another chocolate chip cookie recipe? I have dozens and several I like to use often. I guess it was the way she wrote about these that made me want to try them. We liked them ALOT!

Not only are they a HUGE cookie, but the taste and texture is truly above my other recipes. I think its the all the brown sugar and melted butter that sets these apart. I was worried about the melted butter as I have had trouble in the past with my cookies spreading out and not holding their shape... but these were perfect.

I followed the baking directions exactly. I think that's the key to these cookies with a soft and chewy middle!

One of my friends has always made the BEST cookies and she claims its not the recipe she uses, but the WAY she bakes them. She starts with the pan on the lower rack in the oven and then moves them to the top rack about half way through the baking time. She watches them closely and always removes them from the oven when the edges are turning brown but the insides don't look quite done. She cools them on the pan slightly before removing them to the rack.

You can read about these cookies here http://bakingblonde.wordpress.com/2009/05/03/alton-browns-chocolate-chip-cookie/and give them a try! They just may be better than your own favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe!

They look absolutely delicious! I will add this to my ever-growing list of your recipes I need to try someday.

This is similar to the recipe my grandmother taught me 40 years ago - to use more brown sugar than white for a softer texture. How fun that you found chocolate chip cookie paper to go with your recipe card.
