Happy 4th of July

Hi everyone! Are you ready for the 4th?

I think I am...I just ran into town and braved the crowds of tourists to pick up last minute groceries. It's raining out right now with more storms headed our way for the 4th. But rain or shine we always grill and watch the fireworks! I can only remember one time that the fireworks were cancelled...it has to really be pouring out. Fingers crossed!

I made this festive 4th of July card with Cheery Lynn's Chevron plate in red, white and blue. The stitched rectangle and stars are also from Cheery Lynn. The word "home" is from Technique Tuesday.

I have one more 4th of July card to share, and that will be posted on Sunday for The Paper Players 2nd week of celebration for our 400th challenge. I hope you will join us!

I had so much fun making 4th cards this year....and I'm already excited to make some more for next 4th of July. One of my friends just got a new statue of Liberty die...can't wait to borrow it!

Have a happy and safe 4th of July!

I chose to make a card celebrating the 4th...we do it up BIG in our small town. Huge fireworks, parades, rodeo's, the fair...lots going on for all the tourists and cabin people who frequent our area up north. It's always a busy and fun week.

For my 4th of July card, I decided to use products from some of my favorite stamping companies who donated prizes to our Paper Players celebration. Cheery Lynn, Dies R Us and Tutti Designs. I have been on their design teams for awhile now, and was so excited that they offered up gift certificates to help us celebrate! A BIG thanks to them and to ALL the awesome companies who donated.

I started out with Tutti Designs dotted pierced and scalloped pierced rectangles. Two of my "go to" dies that I use all the time!

Another favorite die of mine is the celebrate pop up die from Cheery Lynn. I like to cut it off and use it as a sentiment. I added some CL swags, a bow and tiny enamel stars.

Happy 4th of July Card Set

Hi everyone!

Next week is 4th of July, so I've been making some cards to celebrate the occasion. I love all the parades, fireworks and people coming together to celebrate this great country.

My family always went on a picnic to our local park.  I have lots of good memories swimming, playing catch, throwing a Frisbee around...and of course grilling hot dogs...oh...and eating juicy watermelon!!   And mom's potato salad....can't forget that! Then the day ended with watching the town fireworks. I kept the same traditions with our kids, and they still remember the awesome fireworks our little town provides.

For my card set I used Taylored Expressions Starry Night cutting plate, and cut it out in several patriotic colors. I added Cheery Lynn's Proud USA die on all of them. For some of the cards I adhered Technique Tuesdays HOME die and the letters USA from Cheery Lynn. The sentiments are all from different companies.

Here they are close up:

Cheery Lynn Whimsical Birdhouse for The Paper Players

Hi everyone!

Jaydee's challenge at The Paper Players this week is "CAS feathered friends."

I've been playing with my Cheery Lynn dies and making a few 4th of July cards the last few days. For this one I used the whimsical birdhouse, pierced circles and stars, and the bird on a branch dies. I stamped the sentiment in black from Lizzie Anne's Little Bits set.

Hi everyone!

I have a patriotic card to share today that I made for this sketch:

 and this challenge;

Little red Wagon..stitching

I always have a good time with MFT's blueprints #20...I love making quilts...paper ones that is!
I am  not a seamstress, but my mom sure tried to make me one. I had to take sewing in 4H for years when I was a kid.  I made a very lovely nightie and also a smock I believe. Anyone remember those? They were popular in the 70's. But sewing never caught on for me, and finally my mom gave up. LOL!
BUT I am glad she made me try it, and I did have fun doing the sewing projects with her. I preferred the 4H baking projects the most though..who doesn't love a good brownie?
And actually, my mom used to make cards herself, although we never did that together. I started that about 8 years ago, and she has been gone a long time now.....she would have loved to know that I started making cards, too!
Mom picked pansies and flowers from her garden and we would find them drying out in between pages of our books! She used them on her cards, I think it was with tissue paper and a mixture of water and glue. They were very pretty, and now that she is gone, we cherish them! My kids keep the cards I make them, too. In fact, this is one I will be sending next week to one of them!
Have a great day!

Celebrate!

Hi everyone!

I've been watching the Summer School lessons over at My Favorite Things. The first class was on "lesson of thirds." I really enjoyed listening to the video, and found the information so interesting. I made a grid just like Kimberly had done, and have already been using it.

For this card I started out with some Lawn Fawn Beachside patterned paper...it has the sweetest little stars. Love this stuff!  I cut out some banners with my MFT pierced banner dies, and placed them on the first third of the paper.

My focal point is the red glitter star which I backed on a MFT zig zag stitched circle. In the center I put a gold button cut out with MFT button dies. The tiny tag has the sentiment,"celebrate," from Lizzie Anne Tidbits. Behind the circle I adhered a MFT pierced fancy flourish

I'm entering this at:

The Male Room ( tiny tag)

City Crafter Die cut gold ( button in center of star)

God Bless America

Surprise! I'm back!
I've been enjoying taking some time off from blogging. It's been a busy spring.... and summer looks like it will be the same, so I'm not sure how much I'll be blogging, but I plan to post when I get a chance.
Alot has happened since I posted last, and I probably need to change my blog up a bit, because I quit as a Stampin Up demonstrator. One of the good things about that is that now I can blog about which product brands I used for my cards, not just SU. I won't have to say "non SU" all the time! The bad thing is now I don't get an SU demo discount! Bummer.
The card I'm sharing today is a 4th of July card I made to send to one of my friends. I had some scraps leftover so I made a cute little tag too!
