Snowmen

Hi! I'm watching the Oprah show and today is a Christmas concert for heroes. It's pretty good. I'm glad I tuned in.

Anyway, this is a card I made with one of my friends stamps. I thought the snowmen were so cute, I had to stamp a bunch of them!

Paper: vanilla, real red
Ink: black, real red
Stamps: non-SU
Other: ribbon, buttons, leaf punch, snowflake button, glitter

We Three Kings

I made this "simple" Christmas card today. I used bashful blue, navy, and white, and added a dew drop to the star. The sentiment is embossed with silver. It was simple..but I had to redo it several times! I kept getting navy ink on the white paper. It was very frustrating! I finally figured out where the ink was coming from though. My stamp mat! So I cleaned it.

Then I decided my cave was just getting too messy and crowded..so I cleaned THAT up. It took most of the afternoon, but I actually was able to get alot done afterwards!

Ornaments

Hi! I am always surprised at how my cards look after I post them. Most of the time they look very close to the actual card. But so often colors are not the same. For this one I was surprised to see how dark the snow flakes are on the ornament. They are much lighter, as I used versamark and clear embossing...so they are actually shiny, too. I don't have a great camera or light box and I'm sure that would help.

This is another of the embossing folders my friend let me use. She got them off a shopping network on TV. They come in a set of six. I've had so many people email me about where they can find them...but I can't be very specific because of the SU demo agreement.

I have some free time this weekend so I'm hoping to get into my cave and make cards with the rest of the folders from the set. I also want to put my Thanksgiving stuff away and dig out Christmas. Brent plans to put up our outside lights today...but we won't get our tree for another week... we still get a real one. I grew up going out in the woods and cutting our own down...we also did that when the kids were small. Now we just got to a local Nursery and buy one!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving..we had a great time as the kids were able to make it home. Here we are:

We managed to still smile {instead of groan} even after all we ate! My favorite dishes were Paula's Sweet Potato Casserole, Chocolate Chunk Pecan Pie, and Spinach Salad. I'll be sharing the recipes soon. Well, pretty soon, as I forgot to take pictures so I just may HAVE to make them again!!!

My son survived the Black Friday shopping trip yesterday..it wasn't as busy as other years. We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch and I just want to say their pulled pork sliders were AWESOME! http://www.buffalowildwings.com/ We did get a few good deals...I didn't make it to a craft store, but there's always next week... as we plan a shopping trip with our daughter.

Have a fun day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cheesy Hashbrowns

First of all I have to say I just love this kitchen paper. I had a hard time using it as I only have one!
This recipe is right off the bag of hash browns. They are not the frozen ones...but the ones in the refrigerated section at the store. I often serve them with ham. This time I melted some butter and added some crushed Ritz crackers for a topping. I think they take a bit longer then 45 minutes..but then I always cook things longer. I don't put as much onion in either and sometimes I don't put it in at all.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Wow... these were good! I copied the recipe off a food blog but I can't remember which one. They were excellent..but then look at all the tasty ingredients! You can leave the skins on and mash them "chunky" style too. When I find the blog I'll post a link here as she had so many awesome recipes to try. Dig in!

Santa

I guess you can tell if you have been reading my blog for very long that I love using the top note die. I should count all the projects I've made with it. It's just that it's the perfect size for so many stamps, including this vintage Santa! Have a great day!

Paper: real red, kraft, vanilla, choc. chip

Ink: real red

Stamps: non SU

Other: top note die, snowflakes die, wide striped ribbon, button. red brads, holly leaves

Embossed ornaments

One of my friends ordered some new embossing folders and she let me play with them the other day. I made this card with just white and night of navy card stock. I added some blue dew drops and silver cord. The sentiment is stamped in silver. I've always liked the navy and silver color combo.

I'm hoping to get to my favorite craft store this weekend and pick up some more dew drops. I don't know if I'll get there though as I'm taking my son along shopping. He's not too big on it but he suffers through it about twice a year. This is one of them. But...I love black Friday! I know I'm crazy...but it's fun to run from store to store looking for good deals!

Mint Cookies

Mmmm. These are very good! Very rich! I hope you can understand how I wrote the directions. It's a bit confusing. When I said dip half...I meant half the batch..not half the cookie. See:

This recipe came from Taste of Home. I used fall sprinkles instead of Christmas ones, though.
Here's what they look like inside:
The mint flavor really shines!

Mexi mac skillet

This is s quick flavorful "go to recipe" when I need something in a hurry. I often make this and freeze it for my son to take back to college. I found the recipe several years ago in a Taste of Home magazine and have been making it
regularly ever since.

Vintage Santa

I love these vintage tags I found at a craft store last weekend when I went shopping. This one is backed on some garden green. I added some gold and red glitter glue here and there. The gold button came from my button jar and I sewed it onto some vanilla ribbon. I distressed the top note die a bit...then stamped "to and from."

Did your mom have a button jar? Mine did. She had an old oatmeal container full of buttons...I loved to dump them all out and look at all the different shapes. I think its funny that here I am so MANY years later still playing with buttons! Who knew!

Chocolate sauce

I have another ice cream topping to share with you. The ingredients for this are usually always in my cupboard so it's handy to whip up. I have used it for fondue also. It's good. I confess. I have eaten it without the ice cream. Yes....I mean just big spoonfuls of it!

Christmas Tag

Here's a quick tag I made recently with my new tags die. I'm off for a fun day of shopping! Have a good Saturday!

Distressed Autumn Wreath

This is the fall card from my shoebox for card club this week. I did a bit of distressing on it...I don't very often as I'm not that good at it, but I like the look. I added some more of those crackle leaves that I like so well. I have a couple bags of them that I plan to use for my Thanksgiving centerpiece, too. I have a few new recipes that I plan to try for the Holidays...I can't wait to try them! They are NOT ww friendly so I need to make them when friends and family will be around to help us eat them!

Christmas Swap

Here are the cards from the swap!
Lots of fun ideas...I enjoyed seeing what everyone made.

Autumn Days Wreath

I have been seeing so many beautiful cards made with stamps from the Autumn Days wreath set that I had to try it for myself. I added a few crinkle leaves and a button.

Last nite was the November card club...we had our Christmas card swap. So many beautiful cards! I hope to get them posted soon. Check back!
