Scallop Circle Purse

Another idea from Score-pal...a scallop circle purse. I made mine a little different. I used my largest Nestie circle and scallop circle for the front and back. I adhered them to a small box. The box itself is 4x6, scored at 3/4" and 4 1/2" on each side. You can see it below:

For the handles I used SU riding hood red ribbon. The little flower I punched with the SU three for you flower punch out of the same designer paper as the circle. I put a small pearl for the center. I thought the sentiment went well with this little purse. A little something for a little someone.....!

Card Swap

Hi! Today I am posting the cards I got from the card swap at work. This month we made sympathy cards. Mine is the one below. I made a similar card that I posted last week using my new favorite SU stamp set,"Thoughts and Prayers." I LOVE the tree and the sentiments are just exactly what I want to say for a sympathy or get well message. My favorite is the sympathy message, "Praying for friends to comfort you, faith to uphold you, and loving memories to heal your heart."

This card had the same sentiment as mine inside. I really like the distressed look and the color combo on the paper.

The pink card was made with Thoughts and Prayers set, too. The branch with flowers is the other side of the tree stamp. She put some glitter on the pink flowers so they really sparkle! The blue card was made with some glitter paper. I like how she tore the paper around the stamped image.

The swirls on this navy card were stamped with paint. She couldn't find her white ink so she improvised. It looks great!

I love the sweet little flower on the top card. Inside it says, "There is comfort in friendship, hope in prayer, peace in love. Sharing in your sorrow with love and friendship." I like the die cut flower on the card on the bottom card, too. It has some textured paper underneath..very pretty.
"Perhaps they are not stars..." I liked the gold with the navy and craft paper. Really a sharp color combination.

I always love card swaps. It's fun to see everybody's ideas! Next month it's Thankyou cards. I'll have to see what I can come up with!

Scones

I have never made scones before. I don't know why. They're so good and pretty simple to make too. I found this recipe in Light and Tasty magazine a few years ago and put it aside to try. It makes 12 scones, a nice size, for 197 calories, 6 fat, and 1 fiber. They turned out great! I did change the recipe alittle, I added a few white chocolate chips on the top before I baked them. For Brents share I drizzled some icing on them that I made with powdered sugar mixed with some orange juice. I WILL make these again. Mmm...I think I'll go have one now!

Paper: SU Haiku
Ink: SU Tangerine Tango
Stamps: SU Tart and Tangy

Sweets....

Ok..I dug out the top note die AGAIN! I can't help it. It's so quick! It's so easy! I used it to make this treat holder for a Reese's Easter egg. {I made some similar to this for Valentines Day.} It's fun to give a little something to co-workers,which is what I plan to do with these. I used the slit punch and some brads to hold the egg onto the card. I stuck a flower onto the tab punch and stamped, "sweets for the sweet" near the top. Mmmm...now to stay out of them before I give them away....

Top Note Pocket Card

I had alot of fun with this project. I really like working with the new SU textured To the Nines designer paper. The colors are so rich, too. I used the top note die to make a pocket card {they are all over splitcoast...not sure who came up with it} for my hubby. I plan to put a gift certificate inside with the card. It will slide right under the tab punch. I am always amazed at what can be done with this die!

Recipe holder

I am always cooking and baking and trying new recipes so when I saw one of these recipe holders at a local store, I wanted one for my kitchen. I figured I could make one cheaper. I found an unfinished one at the Ben Franklin store for 99 cents and painted it white. I had my hubby take off the metal clip so I could trace it onto paper. Then I used Modge Podge to adhere the SU Tea Party designer paper to it, sanding the edges. I added some of the pink pirouette ribbon on the front and top. The flower I added is another one I made with a button in the middle. I used SU crystal effects to adhere it to the clipboard. {That stuff sticks...it's really strong!} It looks great on my kitchen counter!

Bread box

I was over on the scor-pal site and saw a tutorial for a bread box holder. It holds a small loaf of dessert bread. I made some pumpkin bread this weekend {for church} and tried it out for size. It fit perfectly! What a great idea for small gifts, or for craft fairs, or just to run over to a neighbor. I think I'll make up several of these to keep on hand.

Thoughts and Prayers....

The first thing I ordered from the new SU catty was the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set. I was after the sentiments for sympathy cards I need to make, but this tree is awesome! It's so much fun to color with markers. This is one set I will be using over and over again. The paper is SU's new textured, "To the Nines." It's so nice to work with.

My big news!

Yes..it's true! I am now a Stampin Up! Demonstrator. I am really excited about my new venture and can't wait to begin. As you can see, I have already added a few new things onto my blog. You can now check out my SU website by clicking on the picture of the catty on my side bar. This will lead you to where you can view the products, projects, etc. and order if you wish! I plan to keep up my daily blogging with my usual cards, projects, and recipe pages. I use alot of SU products so this seems like a great fit for me. The thing that always attracted me to SU was the coordinating colored papers, inks, and ribbons. But then I found I liked the stamps, and the accessories...and now all the dies! I have so much fun with all their products and am so excited to be a part of SU!

Cilantro Lime Salsa

Another easy delicious recipe from mmmcafe! Only 4 ingredients. We had it on top of our soft shelled tacos, but I think it would be great with tortilla chips too. I did drain the cans of beans and corn. I think it would really taste good with fresh corn. I might have to try that this summer. We love lime and you can really taste it in this...so refreshing!

SU Workshop

Here are a few of the things we made over at JaNell and Yvonne's SU workshop the other nite.My favorite was this gift card!

I like the new eyelet border punch, too.

We all got this little pillow box filled with Dove chocolates. Yvonne made a great dessert that I had 2, yes, 2 pieces of. I plan to make a recipe card for it soon and post it. I don't want anyone to miss out on this recipe. Chocolate, almonds, and raspberries. I LOVE that combo. Thanks again for such a nice time!

Fun Day

I got together with some friends to stamp and here's some of the "stuff" my friends made. I will be posting some of the cards we made next week as we worked on some for a card swap then. The card with the cattails was cased off splitcoast...I will look up her name and post it later. I didn't get pictures of everything we made, either, but it was a such a fun day! We all brought something for a salad bar to share for lunch and it was the best! We decided next time we'll do the same thing.

Stromboli

This is an easy sandwich I make often to have with soup or a salad. Only a few ingredients and 30 minutes later it's done. You could put any sandwich fillings inside that you prefer. We're a ham and cheese kinda family so I pretty much stick to the recipe. I used my cricut for the flowers on the recipe page...well, actually I took them from a bunch of cricut candy I had stashed. I gave my cricut to my daughter to try out and I think she likes it, so I am going to let her keep it. She does scrap booking so I think she will use it more than I did. I haven't decided if I will get another one for myself or not. Right now I am busy with my stamping!

Grilling again....

We like to grill year round, but it's been so cold the past few months I haven't felt like it. But it's warmed up again and now I won't freeze my hands to the grill handle, I decided I wanted a good burger. With a good burger topping. I found this recipe in a Taste of Home magazine a long time ago and have been making it ever since. The combo is so tasty and just melts its goodness all over the burger. I have made this with low-fat ingredients on turkey burgers and that's good, too. I think bacon on anything is a winner! OK, I put way to much on top of my burger as you can see...but it was so good!

Paper: kraft, apricot appeal, white, navy, riding hood red

Other: jumbo brads, stickers

Think Spring

I'm ready for spring, aren't you? Last week alot of the snow melted and we had some really nice mild days, but this week it's colder again. The milder weather did make me think about spring and flowers though. I made a flower out of the pink pirouette ribbon and put a summer sun cord button in the center. My mom used to make these flowers to put on clothes she made for my dolls. I want to try the paper accordion flower too, that I saw on page 5 of the SU sale-a-bration catalog. It looks like fun to make. But I really can't wait to plant some REAL flowers this spring!

Valentine Sweets

I made these small cheesecakes for my hubby...one of his favorites. It's Paula Deenes recipe and is very easy to whip up. I have made them several times and I keep forgetting to change the time on the recipe. They took alot longer than 12 minutes to bake...closer to 30. I like making small cheese cakes with just the two of us. One is a perfect serving size and I can also freeze some for later. I made a few with the peanut butter cups inside{mmmm}, and some plain so I can put strawberries and cream on top. I hope you have a Happy Valentines Day!
